The Cabernet Sauvignon Okenio from the Terradonnà winery in Suvereto, in the province of Livorno, won the “Vino e Territorio” wine competition organized by the Sei venturinese se association.
The competition, which took place on 20 June 2023 at the Teatro dei Concordi in Campiglia Marittima, saw the participation of 14 wineries in the area for a total of 33 wines evaluated by a jury of industry experts.
Okenio was awarded the best overall wine of the competition, obtaining a score of 96/100.
The wine is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the organic vineyards owned by the Terradonnà company, which are located in a privileged position: at the foot of the town of Suvereto surrounded by hills and woods. In this unique terroir it is possible to obtain unique notes that combine an important and mouthfilling fruit, with the black spice and gunpowder that are the uniqueness of the Suvereto soil.
Okenio has an intense ruby red color and an elegant and powerful bouquet, with notes of blackberry, cassis, humus and fern. In the mouth it is structured and persistent, with well-balanced tannins.
“We are very satisfied with this result” declared Annalisa Rossi, owner of the Terradonnà company. “Okenio is a wine that perfectly represents the Suvereto area and we are proud that it was appreciated by a jury of experts”.
