From Suvereto to Campiglia Marittima
in 2026 our company headquarters has moved to Campiglia Marittima, though we remain deeply connected to the history and region of Suvereto, where it all began.
Campiglia Marittima is a medieval village in the Val di Cornia, just a few kilometers from the coast, which shares with Suvereto the same tradition of viticulture and olive growing, the same landscape of hills sloping down toward the sea, and the same agricultural and mining history that characterizes this entire part of Tuscany.
It is here, among these hills, that Villa Giani—the new home of our winery—is located today: a different place, but the same land, the same passion, the same wine.
A CENTURIES-OLD TRADITION
Land of Wine
Suvereto is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. In this region, the cultivation of grapes and olives dates back to the 19th century and continues to this day, yielding high-quality products that are recognized worldwide. The area in question is the Val di Cornia, a microcosm of Tuscany where industry, tourism, agriculture, nature, culture, history, and archaeology coexist.
The Val di Cornia D.O.C. designation dates back to 1990, followed in 2011 by the Suvereto DOCG and Rosso della Val di Cornia DOCG designations.
This region is introduced to the world through our products, as wine has the power to tell the story of a land that has successfully forged a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
Campiglia AND ITS HISTORY
An ancient medieval village
Campiglia is located on the Etruscan Coast, about 10 km from the sea, and stands on one of the hills of Mediterranean scrub that surround the area..
It enjoys a picturesque view of the Tuscan Archipelago and northern Corsica.
The most evident traces of settlement date back to the Etruscan period, with the smelting furnaces in Madonna di Fucinaia, near the San Silvestro Archaeological and Mining Park. The park houses some of the area's most important monumental sites, including the 10th-century Rocca San Silvestro, a fortress used for the production of metals and silver. In the historic center of Campiglia, we find the 12th-century Rocca, the Parish Church of San Giovanni and the famous bas-relief of Meleager, the Parish Church of San Lorenzo, the Palazzo Pretorio with the coats of arms of the Captains, and the 19th-century Teatro dei Concordi..
