The origins of our company

The origins of our farm date back to the middle of the last century, when a little bit of everything was grown in our countryside to support the family, but it was clear from the very beginning that grapevines and olive trees thrived best in this soil, rich in minerals and clay, and in the 1980s we began focusing our production on improving quality.

It’s a story like so many others in which parents pass on the fruits of their labor to their children; that’s how, since 2000, I’ve been tasked with carrying on the family tradition of producing wine and olive oil.

My company, Terradonnà (land given from woman to woman), takes its name because I like to remember how much dedication my mother put into cultivating her land and the gift she gave me by entrusting it to me; this name is a thank-you to my family, who passed down their passion for this work to me.

We are deeply committed to restructuring the winery to achieve high-quality products, confident in the exceptional qualities of this region, which—thanks to the unique characteristics of its mineral-rich subsoil—produces wines that are enjoyable when young and surprising when aged for long periods.

Tradition and Innovation

The company’s philosophy stems from these distinctive characteristics, which demand “respect for the environment and the rhythms of nature.” While firmly committed to preserving the traditional winery, I do not shy away from innovation in winemaking techniques or from exploring new methods to improve the health of the vines. The winery is located just a few kilometers from the coast, specifically from the beautiful Island of Elba. It is an ideal area for winemaking thanks to soil that is particularly rich in minerals and a microclimate that, due to the circulation of air from the sea, maintains mild temperatures throughout the year.

Our approach to winemaking has always been characterized by an almost obsessive attention to detail in every single step carried out in the winery—from the selection of the grapes to the careful cleaning of all equipment used, while also respecting the environment; This means adopting state-of-the-art systems for sterilizing the tanks while avoiding the use of chemicals.
